The National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP) is a ten-year integrated document mandated by the European Union to each of its member states in order for the EU to meet its overall greenhouse gases emissions targets. Following feedback from an EU-wide assessment of draft NECP submissions, EU members are required to submit updated final NECPs for the period 2021-2030.
The plan details the Czechia's contribution to the European climate and energy targets concerning greenhouse gas emissions reduction, increasing the renewable energy share and enhanced energy efficiency. There are three energy efficiency-related targets for the period 2021–2030: 1) an indicative target for the size of primary energy sources, final consumption and energy intensity; 2) a binding energy savings target for public sector building, 3) a binding year-on-year rate of final consumption savings. Other specific targets include a 26% reduction in total greenhouse emissions by 2030, from a 2005 baseline, and a 30% share of renewable energy in gross final consumption by 2030.
