Summary

One of the principles of sustainable forest management stated in this Code is strengthening the resilience of forests and increasing their contribution to limiting the effects of climate change. The Code mandates that forest status indicators must include resilience to climate change.

There is a section on limiting the effects of climate change, which allows the owner to implement specific forest management measures to increase the amount of carbon dioxide sequestered by stands in forests for which there is a valid forest management plan. The relevant authority shall finance national programmes aimed at increasing the amount of carbon sequestered through the use of wood in the construction and furniture industries.
