Ha Ta Tukari, “Water our Life”: Towards Universal Drinking Water Coverage for 21 Communities of the Wixarika Nation

The “Ha Ta Tukari” (“Water, our Life” in the Wixaritari language) project is aimed at securing autonomous, renewable drinking water access for indigenous communities within the Wixarika Nation in Northwest Mexico. Managed under a multi-million dollar proposal submitted to the global Adaptation Fund, the initiative responds to critical seasonal water shortages, severe desertification, and climate change vulnerabilities affecting the isolated San Andrés Cohamiata region.
