The Ordinance on Packaging and Packaging Waste implements Bulgaria’s obligations under the Waste Management Act and related EU directives (such as the Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive) by establishing the conditions, requirements and procedures for the production, selling and management of packaging and packaging waste. It sets out rules on design, material quality and reusability of packaging, and defines producer responsibility for preventing, reusing, recycling and recovering packaging materials.
