The overall objective of this project is to strengthen climate resilience for people and ecosystems in Kiribati through integrated investments in restoration, resource management, and governance.

The project aims to strengthen climate resilience in Pacific Small Island Developing States by supporting locally led adaptation innovations through the Climate Innovation Co:Lab. It helps communities, youth, and local enterprises design, test, and scale solutions addressing climate risks like sea-level rise, droughts, and cyclones. Through stages of incubation, acceleration, and amplification, it promotes knowledge sharing, gender equality, and traditional knowledge, fostering inclusive, sustainable, and regionally coordinated adaptation across the Pacific.

The Kiribati Development Plan 2024 - 2027 is the third development plan to implement the Kiribati Vision 2016 - 2036 of a sustainable healthier, wealthier and peaceful nation. It focuses on the same six Key Priority Areas (KPAs) used in the former KDP 2020 - 2023:1. KPA 1: Human Resource Development2. KPA 2: Economic Wealth and Hardship Alleviation3. KPA 3: Health4. KPA 4: Environment and Resilience5. KPA 5: Governance6. KPA 6: Infrastructure and Sustainable Energy
KPA 4 focuses on ensuring development actions build environmental resilience to climatechange impacts, which Kiribati faces as a low-lying state. Actions span across building resilient infrastructure to increasing food security and preserving cultural heritage.
