Leveraging Green Zones (Eco-Industrial Parks) for Just Transition implemented by International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD)

<p>The project aims to strengthen climate resilience in the Western Balkans, covering Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia, by fostering regional cooperation and innovation for climate adaptation. It supports locally led, scalable solutions addressing floods, droughts, and heatwaves, while promoting knowledge exchange, innovation finance, and inclusive participation. Through ecosystem-based and technology-driven approaches, it enhances livelihoods, ecosystems, and regional collaboration for long-term climate resilience.</p>

<p>This Law implements the European "Clean Energy Package," which includes directives and regulations such as Directive (EU) 2019/944, Regulation (EU) 2019/943, CACM, REMIT, and others. The law facilitates the construction of solar, wind, and hydroelectric plants through the Annual Energy Infrastructure Plan, prepared in line with the Energy Development Strategy and the Integrated National Energy and Climate Plan. Investors can submit proposals by June 1 each year, and the government will support projects that meet our clean energy goals. It also introduces clear rules for grid connection to prevent chaos from too many solar panels on the distribution network.This Law is meant to stimulate economic growth, advance technology, protect the environment, and move North Macedonia toward European and global climate goals for 2050.</p>

Local CSOs and CBOs in landscapes-seascapes around the world access grant financing and technical assistance, including capacity development and knowledge sharing to maintain and enhance their socio-ecological resilience, well-being and socio-economic conditions for global environmental benefits.
